Claudine Shuffield

August 12, 1930 ~ December 20, 2018 (age 88)

Senora Claudine Stumbaugh Shuffield, the daughter of Ira Stumbaugh and Hollie Boley Stumbaugh passed away on December 20 at Johnson County Health and Rehab in Clarksville.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, W. D. "Dubb" Shuffield, her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth (Leon) Wilson, two brothers and sisters-in-law, James Leslie "Check" (Jewell) Stumbaugh and Don (Virginia) Stumbaugh, a sister-in-law, Lenora "Goodin" (Charles) Standridge, a niece, Nena Stumbaugh and a great-niece, Christy Hickey Schultz.

Claudine is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Harold (Mary) Stumbaugh of Russellville, four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda (Jim) Pentz of Dover, Rutha (Bob) Freeman of Clarksville, Carolyn (Mike) Lee of Dover, JoAnn (Jim) O'Neal of Branch, and a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley (Donna) Shuffield of Dover. She is also survived by grandchildren, Tammy Wells, Bobby (Shelley) Freeman, Mandi (Michael) Ferguson, Darren (Sarah) Freeman, Chelli (Luke) Guthrie, Keri (Brandon) Foster, Stan Shuffield, Christie (Brian) Shoulders, Debbie (Ted) McCastlain, Katie Moore, Mark Moore, Crystal Pearson; great-grandchildren, Hollie (Andrew) Gillispie, Grayson Freeman, Ada Freeman, Isaac Freeman, Jaden Gibson, Ava Gibson, Raegan Wilson, Kali Witt, Mason Ferguson, Grace Guthrie, Sophia Guthrie, Levi Guthrie, Ezra Foster, Sarah Shuffield, Destiny McCollister, Emma McCollister, and Jazmyn Pearson; five nieces, Vickie (Woody) Marshall, Donna Walters, Carol Ann Moss, Diana (Ed) Hill; four nephews, Kenny (Johnnie) Stumbaugh, Robert Wilson, Steve (Lea) Stumbaugh, David (Chris) Stumbaugh, and Dennis Standridge; as well as a number of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Claudine, a lifelong resident of Bullfrog Valley, was a retired baker from the Dover Supermarket. She had an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and worked for the Dover Day Care Center and the Head Start Program for many years. She began her working career as a cook for the Dover School District. Claudine enjoyed gardening, cooking Sunday lunch for the family, attending church services, fishing, and watching Braves baseball games and her grandchildren's school events. She was the sole caregiver of her husband, inflicted with Alzheimer's disease, while battling and defeating breast cancer and chemotherapy. She spent her life in self-sacrifice for her family and those around her.

Pallbearers are Bobby Freeman, Darren Freeman, Brandon Foster, Luke Guthrie, Andrew Gillispie, Michael Ferguson, and Jeff O’Neal.  Honorary pallbearers are Fred Wells, Dennis Standridge, Veronica Rotham, Evelyn Dorn, Paula Spitler, James Neal Riddle, Stan Shuffield, Brian Shoulders, Ted McCastlair, the CNAs and nurses on the 400 hallway at JCHR and Kindred Hospice in Russellville.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Arkansas Alzheimer’s Chapter.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Pleasant Grove Assembly of God followed by burial will be at Owens Cemetery by Humphrey Funeral Service.  Pastor Jackie Pledger and Pastor Bruce Smithson will officiate.
