Floyd Ronald “Ron” Reid, 77, of Russellville, passed peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. The son of Archie and Mae (Sexton) Reid, he was born December 9, 1941 in Haleyville, AL. He was a 1959 graduate of Russellville High School and attended Arkansas Tech. He and Mary Willard were married on May 23, 1962 in Ola. Ron and Mary founded Reid’s Sportsman’s One Stop located on South Knoxville Avenue in Russellville in 988.
Ron was also a commercial contractor and worked as an inspector for Crafton-Tull for 10 years. An avid outdoorsman, Ron enjoyed fishing, deer and quail hunting and most recently teaching his grandchildren the skills associated with being a woodsman, hunter and fisherman.
He was a member of the West Side Church of Christ in Russellville, and was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Brenda Joyce Reid.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Reid of Russellville; four sons, Rick Reid of Russellville, Rusty Reid and wife, Lora of Bryant, Matt Reid of Russellville and Mark Reid, of Dover; five grandchildren, Cody Reid and wife Melissa of Centerton, Evin Reid of Bryant, Erin Sanford and husband Korbin of Conway, Marika Reid, and Mason Reid both of Dover; and great-granddaughter, Oaklee Sanford.
A Memorial service will be held at 7:00PM, Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Humphrey Chapel. Jim Bob Humphrey will officiate. Memorials may be made to Camp Caudle, 857 State Rt. 164 North, Hector, AR 72843.
