Fred "Pete" Arthur Petersen, 83, of Russellville, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. The son of Victor and Eleonora Petersen, he was born June 28, 1936 in Mason City, IA. He married Beverlee Taylor on July 13th, 1956 at Yuma, AZ. He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War rising to the rank of Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman (HMCS) and retiring after over 21 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as custodian. “Pete” was a talented cabinet maker and enjoyed tinkering. He was preceded in death by his parents, Viktor and Eleonora Petersen and foster brother, William Bill Schaffer.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Beverlee Petersen; his son, Marty Paul Petersen and spouse, Gail, both of Russellville; his daughter, Margaret Kay Judd of Hartsville, SC; son, Mark Petersen of Russellville; grandchildren, Shane Voss of Morrilton, Jessica and John Freeman of London, Heather and Todd Bradford of MI, and Barslund Judd of MI; great-grandchildren, Keagan Voss of Morrilton, Logan Freeman, Dylan Freeman, Gabe Freeman, all of London, Nicoline Bradford, Joy Bradford, Rose Bradford, Alex Bradford, Eve Bradford, and Pax Bradford.
He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Joan Petersen of Dourghtery, IA; two sisters, Dorthea Smith of Dell City, OK and Nancy and Bob Corporon; nephew, Carl and LuAnn Petersen of Nebraska, niece, Mari Etta and Brian Miller of Rockwell, IA, niece, RuthAnn and Tom Murphy, nephew, Joel Petersen of Rockford, IA, niece, Kari and Lee Mitchell of Oklahoma City, OK; their children, Clayton Mitchell and Hannah Mitchell; nephews, Jim Corporon of Rockwell, IA and Wade Corporon of FL, in addition to many other loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:30PM, Monday, July 22, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Russellville on 200 S Cumberland Ave. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
