Rev. Harvey Wayne Maher, 76, of London, AR, died Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. A son of Steve and Nola Viola (Warren) Maher, he was born June 10, 1943, in North Little Rock. He gained his college education at Williams Baptist University, in Walnut Ridge; Arkansas State University in Jonesboro; and at UALR. He married Helen Eileen (Asher) Maher, on September 12, 1964, in East St. Louis, IL.
Harvey was a bi-vocational minister throughout his life, but also owned a real estate and insurance business, and served as a stock broker with Thrivent, the Lutheran financial organization. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in the Augsburg community. One of his greatest passions in life was collecting and showing sports cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Chadwick; and two sisters, Jeanette Janis and Pat Blum. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen; two daughters, Bridgitt Tumbleson (Marty) of Hagarville; and Shelley Cotnoir of Maumelle; a granddaughter, Devyn Cotnoir of Fayetteville; three brothers, John Maher (Linda); Don Maher (Terri); and Steve Maher (Bev); two sisters, Kathy Grueniger (Marvin) and Sharon Horn (Ed); as well as other nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, October 18, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Joshua Ralston officiating. Burial will be Monday, October 21, 2019, at 2:00PM, at Randolph Memorial Gardens in Pocahontas, AR by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation is one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
