James “Jim” William Holbrook, 84, died Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at his home in Russellville. A son of John William and Eula Evelyn (Sorrells) Holbrook, Sr., he was born July 7, 1935, in Russellville. He was a graduate Ouachita Baptist University, Arkadelphia, AR, with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Following graduation from college, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy and served as an officer aboard the USS Kearsarge in Guam. During his working career, he was an adjuster in the insurance industry and also worked in merchandising as a retail sales agent.
One of his greatest life accomplishments was that he was a friend of Bill's for more 34 years. He loved flower & vegetable gardening, and was always more interested in helping others than taking care of himself.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and, a brother, John Wesley Holbrook, Jr. He is survived by his two daughters, Ivy Kay Morgan and Julie Anne Holbrook, both of Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Robert Frank Holbrook (Rhoda) of Vestavia Hills, AL; two sisters, Linda Sanders (Lynn “Red Baby”) of Russellville, and Anne Demere of Babylon, NY; and many other friends and relatives.
A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, December 5, 2019, at Humphrey Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Rick Smith. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Family and friends are encouraged to make a donation in Jim's memory to the charity of your choice.
