Mr. Paul Weir

Paul Edison Weir, 97, of London, went to his heavenly home Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Russellville Nursing & Rehabilitation. The son of Gilbert and Helena Amelia (Dietrich) Weir, he was born December 7, 1918 in Grady, AR. He married Rheba Bauman on December 25th, 1941 in Russellville. He was a cattle farmer in the Pless Community for many years.

Mr. Weir was a former president of the Pope County Farm Bureau, the Pope/Yell
County Cattlemen's Association and the Pless Community Rural Community Improvement. He was also the first fire chief of Bayliss Rural Fire Department and a member of Gideons International. He and his wife's accomplishments included obtaining the title of "Pope County Farm Family of the Year" three times.

He loved life, and was a very grateful man. He was a very positive role model for his family and friends. He enjoyed gardening, cattle farming and especially spending quality time with his family. His greatest investments in life were in other people and their successes. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Rheba Nora (Bauman) Weir; and his parents; sister, Elaine Weir Cia; and son-in-law, James H. Moore.

Survivors include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and Joe Williams of Choctaw, OK and Anita and Arnie Burk of London; three granddaughters and their husbands, Kim and Nathan Knight of Clarksville, Brittney and Lance Garner of Russellville, and Jamie and Brent Abbott of London; two grandsons and their wives, Michael and Misty Moore of Benton and A.J. and Natalie Burk of Russellville;

Seventeen great-grandchildren, Moriah and Zach Knight; Campbell, Caraline, Carter and Cate Moore; Payton, Hannah, Haley and Harmony Garner; Brooks, Brenna, Bear and Bailey Burk; Taylor, Tori and Sydney Abbott; an eighteenth great-grandson due in August, born to the Abbotts; and numerous cherished extended family members and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Mt. Carmel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Rev Tom Deere and Rev Lynell Brooks will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 5-7PM, on Friday, at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Glenn Priebe, Ted Boster, Tommy Metz, Brad Alvey, Gordon Higgs and Roger White.
