Thomas Don Hankins, 81, of Pelsor, AR, died Sunday, December 29, 2019, at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born on July 4th, 1938 in Pelsor, to Thomas and Elsie Lee (Dickey) Hankins.
Don was a 1957 graduate of Dover High School and attended college at Arkansas Tech University. He was the owner of the Hankins General Store for more than 40 years. He was a cattle farmer and also loved buying and selling mules, horses, coon and squirrel dogs.
He was a kind and caring dad and papa who loved telling funny stories to his family and friends. One of his favorite things to do was having hot dog and marshmellow roasts around a campfire with his grandsons.
Don accepted Jesus as His Savior and was baptized. He attended Jasper First Assembly of God.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his four sisters: Shirley Holt, Willie Williams, Pauline Curtis & Camillia Smith; and a brother, Jim Hankins.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott & Hessie Hankins of Vendor, AR; a sister, Hazel Jones of Atlanta, GA; three grandsons, Ben Hankins and wife Libby, Drew Hankins, and Grady Hankins, all of Vendor, AR; and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Ben Hankins, Drew Hankins, Glendell Reynolds, Wyatt Reynolds, T.J. Curtis and Wendell Freeman.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Grady Hankins, Bennie Parks, Odell Freeman, John Freeman, James Chisum, Willie Freeman and Clovis Freeman.
The funeral service will be 10:00AM, on Friday, January 3, 2020, at Humphrey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Holt officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Russellville, by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation is 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Thursday, at the funeral home.
