Thurman Aston

October 14, 1927 ~ January 31, 2019 (age 91)

Thurman Aston, 91, of Tulsa, OK, formerly of Atkins, AR died Thursday, January 31st, 2019.  The son of Juel and Eva May (Martin) Aston, he was born October 14, 1927 in Pottsville, AR.  He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II serving in the Army of Occupation of Japan in Korea. He married Ruby Alyene Malick on January 6th, 1950 in Russellville, AR.  They were married for 62 years until Alyene’s death on June 7th, 2012. Thurman was a maintenance mechanic with Firestone for over 20 years.  He also was a proficient carpenter, cement truck driver, and landscaper having built two homes and pouring numerous concrete slabs.  He was a member of the Woodlawn Free Will Baptist Church of Russellville, AR and attended Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, OK. He was also a member of the United Rubber Workers Union.  He enjoyed cattle ranching, traveling with Alyene in their RV, bluegrass music, and spending time with family.  He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Alyene (Malick) Aston; his parents; four brothers, Ralph Aston, Odis Aston, David Aston, Paul Aston; and an infant sister, Lola Mae Aston.

Survivors include, two sons, Allen Aston and wife Arcea, Newburgh, IN and Steven Aston and wife Aurora, Tulsa, OK; one daughter, Benita Aston, Tulsa, OK; five grandchildren, Alexander Aston, Lexington, KY, Timothy Aston, Tulsa, OK, Jonathan Aston, Salt Lake City, UT, Andres Aston, Bloomington, IN, and Lindsey Aston, Tulsa, OK; brother, Don C. Aston, Sacremento, CA, sister, Modean Bowman and husband Vigil, Russellville, AR, brother, Herb Aston and wife Carol, Iraan, TX; two sisters-in-law, Margarita Aston, El Paso, TX, and Paula Aston, Pottsville, AR; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Humphrey Chapel.  Bob Alexander will officiate.  Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Atkins, AR by Humphrey Funeral Service.  Visitation will be from 6-8pm, on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
