Ava J. "Johnnie" Booher Carson, 91, a resident of Russellville, formerly of Memphis, Tennessee, died Thursday, March 3, 2016, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
She was born January 24, 1925, in Holland, Missouri. She worked for the Veteran's Hospital in Memphis, where she met her husband, Donald H. Booher. The couple moved to Russellville where they raised their family and Johnnie worked for International Shoe Company and later opened Johnnie's Beauty Shop where she worked as a beautician for many years. She and her family were members of First Baptist Church of Russellville. After Mr. Booher's death in 1975, she married Edwin Carson a few years later. She and Mr. Carson attended the Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church for many years until his death in 1999. She was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed fishing, camping and her pets. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a brother; and two sisters.
Survivors include a son, Butch Booher and wife LaRue of Russellville; three stepsons, David Carson of Dallas, TX, Kevin Carson of Morrilton, Bruce Carson of Bella Vista; three grandchildren, Terry Don Booher of Conway, Tammy Bryson of Russellville, David Booher of Rogers; two great grandchildren, Mila and Areli Booher of Conway.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Rest Haven Memorial Park with the Rev. Johnny McCoy officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
