Billy Joe Davidson, 86, a resident of Russellville, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
He was born November 9, 1930, at Russellville to Joe and Ottie Mae Baker Davidson. He attended Russellville High School and joined the United States Army at a young age. He married Mildred Lucille Ross in July 1957, at Russellville. He worked for over 30 years as a truck driver for Arkansas Best Freight, receiving over 20 years of safety awards. He enjoyed bowling, horses, garage sales and Arkansas Razorback Football. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Jerry Lynn and Terry Glenn Speer; a daughter, Billie Jean Pennington; three grandchildren, William Brent Keener, Jeremy Lynn Stamper and Brittany Pennington; a great-granddaughter, Nakia Pennington; a brother; and a sister.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and Donnie Keener of Russellville and Judy Irwin of Chicago, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Danny Irwin of San Antonio, Texas, Matt Irwin of Rockford, Illinois, Melissa Jockell of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Melanie Keener and Kortne and Kaylee Pennington, all of Russellville and Casey and Jon Speer, both of Pine Bluff; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Taylor and her husband, Dois, of Snowball and Anna Woodbridge of Huntsville; and other relatives and friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
