Mr. Cecil D. McDaniel Obituary (1931 - 2017)

Cecil D. McDaniel, 85, a resident of Russellville, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville He was born September 6, 1931, in Octavia, Oklahoma to Floyd and Jessie Linville McDaniel. He graduated from Hatfield High School near Mena and soon joined the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He worked for several years for MK Grocery in Russellville as a salesman and after retirement, enjoyed piddling around his farm and working with his cows. He enjoyed antique cars and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Augsburg where he formerly served as President and Elder. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lonnie, F. M. and James McDaniel; and three sisters, Alene McDaniel, Wanda Samuels and Shirley McGrew. Survivors include his wife, Delores Dietrich McDaniel of Russellville; his children, Dennis McDaniel and Marilyn Vaughan, both of Kentucky; several grandchildren; two brothers, Carl and Charlie McDaniel, both of Oregon; three sisters, Betty Tatum of Washington, and Brenda Carter and Lilly Tatum, both of Oregon; and other relatives and friends. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church at Augsburg with the Rev. Reed Shoaff officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Augsburg under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be Demian Schrock, Robert Sims, Dennis Steuber, Ted Dorn, Charlie Tackett and Earl Schrock. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Roth, Lawrence Steuber, Gordon Higgs, Bob Meimerstorf and Boyd Osburne.
