Charles "Ed" Jones, 90, of Russellville, died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at his
home. The son of George and Maudie Cox Jones, he was born February 17, 1927 in
Russellville. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, serving as
medic and ambulance driver in the Army of Occupation in Japan. After the war
Ed and Viola Mae Birge were married on February 2, 1946 in Russellville and Ed
worked as a foreman at International Shoe Company in Russellville, retiring in
He enjoyed antiquing and rummaging at yard sales and he operated Jim and Ed's
Old House Antique Shop for several years. His outdoors interest included
hunting, fishing, gardening, but his favorite thing in life was spending time
with his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was a prison chaplain with Breaking the Chains of Darkness, served as host
at the Long Pool Recreation Area and attended the Damascus Assembly of God. He
was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Viola and nine siblings.
He is survived by 3 children, Gary (Tawanna) Jones, Eddie Jones, Sharon Satterfield,
All of Russellville; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Jones, Porterville, CA.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Humphrey
Chapel. Rev. James Chisum and Rev. Don Erwin will officiate. Burial will be at
Rest Haven Memorial Park by Humphrey Funeral Service. Full military honors will
be provided by Rogers-Rye Post, #2283 of the Veterans of Foreign War.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be
