Daniel "Dawson" McAlister, 17, of Dover, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. The son of Douglas McAlister and Karen Hegeman, he was born June 3, 1999 in Russellville. He was a member of the Dover Church of Christ where he was active in the youth group. Dawson was a junior at Dover High School and played football, ran track and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He enjoyed sports, bow hunting, bow fishing, riding four-wheelers, kayaking, being outdoors, texting, and weight training.
Survivors include his parents, Douglas McAlister of Dover and Karen Hegeman of Atkins; brother, Jonathan Carothers of Atkins; paternal-grandparents, Dan & Bobsie McAlister of Dover; maternal-grandparents, William & Linda Hegeman of Atkins; two uncles, Darrell McAlister of Dover and Todd & Diane Hegeman of Atkins; aunt, Ginger & Rich Stoddard of Dallas, TX; two nieces, Brooklynn Carothers and Kenleigh Carothers, both of Russellville; and numerous cousins and extended family.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Dover Church of Christ. Brother Micah Williams and Brother Chad Duvall will officiate. Burial will be at Pollard Cemetery in Dover by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 6-8PM, on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Chris Bewley, Isaac Talkington, Trevor Floyd, Ethan Bryant, Presley Williams and Shawn Price. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Dover High School Football Team.
