Mrs. Edith Mae Sbabo

Edith Mae Cowan Sbabo, 87, a resident of Russellville, died Sunday, December 4, 2016, at the Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A daughter of Burch and Gladys Harris, she was born May 9, 1929, in Seminole, Oklahoma. Edith was a retired housekeeping employee with Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and a member of Grace Chapel Church in Russellville. She was a loving mother to nine children and enjoyed gardening, fishing and flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, J. D. Cowan; her second husband, Pete Sbabo; a daughter, Diane Smith; two sons-in-law, David Herdman and James Moore; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters; and a brother.

Edith is survived by five daughters and three sons-in-law, Lisa Moore of Russellville, Rose Mary Herdman of Russellville, Mary and Gary Turney of Hector, Dore and Stevie Mason of Russellville, Shirley and Benny Lewis of Russellville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Betty Cowan of Dover, Jesse and Donna Cowan of Texas and Ray and Helen Harris of Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three brothers; her best friend, Mary Smith; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Humphrey Chapel with the Rev. William Flynn officiating. Burial will be in Owens Cemetery near Dover, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Edith's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
