G.A. Huffman, 87, of Scottsville, went home to be with The Lord Friday, August 5, 2016 surrounded by his family. The son of Joseph and Bitha (Goates) Huffman, he was born December 28, 1928 in Scottsville. He was a truck driver with Standard Rendering for many years and a member of the Price Grove Assembly of God where he served on the Board of Trustees. G.A. enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, and playing dominos. In a particularly successful gardening season he cultivated a pumpkin which weighed 78 pounds and it is still talked about amongst his family and friends to this day.
G.A. was a good man and his greatest accomplishment was raising his family. He especially cherished his time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Ada (Ragsdale) Huffman; his son, David Joe Huffman; his parents; four brothers, Caroll, Leamon, J.E., and Ray Huffman; four sisters, Treba, Ilah, and Zella Huffman and Pauline Treadwell; granddaughter, Shelia Kisling; and great-grandson, Braxton Huffman.
Survivors include three sons, Garry Huffman (Joyce), Dennis Huffman (Patricia), and Tim Huffman (Donita), all of Scottsville; three daughters, Patricia Boyd (Bob) of Dover, Betty Tillman (Donald) of Scottsville, and Jacque Tereza (Derek) of Hector; 15 grandchildren, Tamara Beavers (Chris), Lori Canfield (Brooks), both of Dover, Matthew Huffman (Heather), Jessica Rackley (Richard), Hunter Huffman (Tessa), Lauryn Carr (Taylor), Kye Tereza, Caileah Huffman, Kerri Rudder, all of Hector, Gerrad Huffman (Stephanie), Susan Grider (Dwayne), Jennifer Thacker (Johnny), all of Russellville, Ashley Anhalt (Dustin) of Fayetteville, Daniel Hern of Hot Springs, Teddy Hern (Mary) of Eureka Springs; 22 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, August 9th, 2016 at Price Grove
Assembly of God in Dover. Reverend Ken Partain, Reverend Bobby Judkins, and Reverend
Hunter Huffman will officiate. Burial will be at Goates Cemetery in Scottsville by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 6-8PM, on Monday, at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Mr. Huffman's sons and sons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers are Shawn Partain, Nelson Langford, Bill Bewley, Mick Lewis and the men of Price Grove Assembly of God.
