Mrs. Jo Ann Cousar

August 31, 1933 ~ April 17, 2017 (age 83)
Jo Ann Cousar, 83, a resident of Russellville, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.

She was born August 31, 1933, in Russellville to Carl Douglas and Mary Margarette Payne Vincent. She married T. A. Cousar Jr. on October 2, 1951, in Kentucky, and the couple soon moved to Washington, DC where T. A. attended radio tech school. Following radio school, they moved back to Russellville where they both attended the Arkansas Polytechnic College (ATU) and their first child was born. In 1954, they moved to Wichita, Kansas where Jo Ann became a realtor and T. A. was an engineer in the aircraft industry and their remaining four children were born. They moved back to Russellville where T. A. was an engineer supervisor at Arkansas Nuclear One and Jo Ann was the owner of Creative Boutique, where she taught arts and crafts and needle arts for many years. She was a long-time member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and active with VBS and had recently been attending the Fellowship Bible Church with family.

She was a servant leader and care giver, who was always putting others above herself. She was known for her visits to the elderly and sick and her chicken noodle soup and her mayonnaise cake. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Jack D. Vincent; her stepmother, Maggie Vincent; a son-in-law, James M. Waggoner; and two grandson, Evan B. and James M. Waggoner.

Survivors include five children, Mary F. Hollabaugh of Russellville, Gary C. Cousar of Russellville, Jorise Taber Ware of Russellville, Thomas A. Cousar III and his wife, Connie Fernandez Cousar of Homestead, Florida and Larry C. Cousar and his wife, Tracey L. Cousar of Fayetteville; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth Larry and Linda Vincent of McKinney, Texas; and many beloved nephews, nieces and cousins.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017, at Humphrey Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Walshauser and the Rev. Robert Heflin officiating. Burial will be private in Pisgah Cemetery at Pottsville. Arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Air Force Major Ret. Jamie Waggoner, Michael Cousar, John W. Hollabaugh, David Taber and Josh, Kory, Christian and Kyle Cousar.
