John Hines, 85, a resident of Russellville, Arkansas, formerly of Whitehall, Michigan, died Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born November 22, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan to William Jennings and Ruth Johnston Hines. He a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a graduate of the University of Central Florida. He worked as an electrical engineer for many years in Michigan. While living in Whitehall, he was a member of the White Lake Corale and St. Peter by the Lake Episcopal Church. He enjoyed making jewelry and model airplanes. He was a member of the All Saints' Episcopal Church in Russellville. He was preceded death by his parents; his wife, Ramona; a daughter, Debbie Hines; and a sister, Evelyn.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John Greg and Missy Hines of Russellville; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Don Comer of Farmington, Missouri; a step-daughter and her husband, Crystal and Burt Jackson of Whitehall; seven grandchildren, John Cody Hines, Hannah Hines and Holly Hines, all of Russellville, Daniel Thomas and his wife, Brandy of Michigan, David Thomas and his wife, Jill of Minnesota and Kelsy and Andrew Comer, both of Farmington, Missouri; five great-grandchildren, Mary Ayshton, Jamie, Cody, Sarah and Cassie Thomas; and other relatives and friends.
The family will conduct a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at All Saints' Episcopal Church with Fr. Jos Tharakan officiating. Entombment will be in the columbarium at St. Peter by the Lake Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
