John Lee Young, 68, of Ola, passed away, Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. The son of Robert and Evelyn (Flewellen) Young, he was born January 23, 1950 in Morrilton. He was a graduate of Arkansas Tech University. He married Nancy George, on September 5th, 1969 at Birta, Arkansas. He was the Operations Project Manager for the
Blue Mountain-Nimrod Project Office of the US Army Corps of Engineers, retiring in January of 2007. His career with the Corps spanned 36 years.
He was a member of the State of Arkansas Realtor's Association, Arkansas Board of Education, served on Ola and Two Rivers School Board for over 20 years, Chambers Memorial Hospital County Board, Ducks Unlimited, and a member of the Yell County Democratic Party. He was a member of the Casa First Baptist Church where he was an Adult Sunday School Teacher. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, public service and politics. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim Young.
John is survived by his wife Nancy Young, Birta; a daughter, Kathy Turner (Chad), Birta; two granddaughters, Ashley Turner, Russellville; Calee Turner, Birta; a sister, Virginia Wilbanks (Charles), Dover; three nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Jesus Name Church. Bro. Jon Holbrook, Bro. Bobby Powers, and Bro. Stacy Lisenbey will officiate. Burial will be at Nimrod Cemetery in Nimrod by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be an hour before service, on Thursday, at the church.
