Kevin Cecil "KC" Hansen, 61, of Ola, Arkansas, died July 2, 2018, at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, Arkansas, after a very long illness. KC was born on Dec. 14, 1956, in Fresno, California, to the late James Hansen and Patricia Park Hansen. His mother moved to Russellville with him and his brother just a few months later and KC lived the rest of his life in or near Russellville.
KC attended elementary school at St. John's Catholic School, graduated from Russellville High School in 1975, and obtained a bachelor's degree in business administration from Arkansas Tech University in 1989. He married Teresa Merritt of Dardanelle in 1982, and they had two daughters. As a boy and young man, he was active in Boy Scouts of America, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. KC loved the outdoors, especially hunting, camping, canoeing, kayaking and water skiing. He worked in banking and finance, most recently as a finance manager for Agricredit Acceptance Corp. While finishing his college degree in the 80s, KC worked alongside his father-in-law at Yell County Gin Co. in Dardanelle.
KC is survived by his daughter Dr. Natalie Brown and her husband Cody of Weatherford, Texas; daughter Michelle Hansen of Shreveport, Louisiana; his daughters' mother, Teresa Merritt Hansen of Claremore, Oklahoma; granddaughter Cameron Brown of Weatherford, Texas; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Delma and Polly Merritt of Dardanelle. In addition to his parents, KC is proceeded in death by his brother Daniel Hansen and grandparents J.C. and Iva Mae Park.
KC was a loving son, husband and father. Although he will be missed by his family, they are thankful that his physical struggles are over. His family is especially grateful to the staff at Deerview Nursing and Rehabilitation (formerly Ola Nursing Home) in Ola, Arkansas, as well as Dr. Philip Tippin, for taking care of KC for the past 25 years.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. A graveside committal service, officiated by the Rev. Teri Daily of All Saints' Episcopal Church, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 13, at Oakland Cemetery in Russellville. A reception for KC's family to visit with friends will be held following the service.
