Mrs Thelma Jewel Lawhorn Obituary (1933 - 2017)

Thelma Jewel Lawhorn, 83, of Atkins, passed away, Sunday, May 28, 2017 at her home. A daughter of David and Georgia Mae Hutson Johnson, she was born July 2, 1933 in Atkins. She attended Atkins Public Schools. She was retired from Tyson Foods. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Pottsville and a former member of South New Hope Assembly of God. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, canning and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband Grady Vernon Lawhorn; her parents; son, Kenneth Ray Lawhorn; two sons in law, James Painter and David Chilldres; three sisters, Georgia Mae Trumfheller, Alice Bratton, Sue Bratton and a brother, Elmer "Bud" Johnson. Thelma is survived by two daughters, Deborah Painter of Atkins and Terry Chilldres of Orlando, FL; a son Vernon Lawhorn(Jana) of Pottsville; a daughter in law, Kandice Lawhorn Walker of Russellville; five grandchildren, Jeremy Lawhorn(Leslie) of Russellville; Jeffrey Lawhorn of Atkins; Kenneth Lee Lawhorn of Pottsville; Elizabeth Chilldres and Alex Chilldres, both of Orlando, FL; two sisters, Elizabeth Hamblin of Garland, TX and Margie Pearl Norris of Atkins. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, June 1, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Pottsville. Rev. Millie Bryant and Rev. Jim Findley will officiate. Burial will be at Bells Chapel Cemetery in Atkins by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
