Wilburn "W.L." Newby Obituary (1917 - 2017)

Wilburn "W.L." Lee Newby, 100, of London, died Monday, November 20, 2017, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. A son of James & Bonnie Newby, he was born April 6, 1917, in Bonham, TX. He owned & operated his own upholstery business prior to his retirement. He attended the 5th & Greenwich Church of Christ in Russellville, and enjoyed working in his yard and growing a vegetable garden. He was especially known for the fine crops of watermelons, tomatoes and okra he annually produced. Mr. Newby was preceded in death by his wife, Letha Mae Newby, his parent, and a grandson, Trey Lewallen. He is survived by a son, Alton Newby (Kathy) of London; a daughter, Sylvia Lewallen (Larry) of London; six grandchildren, Lisa Chuculate (Larry), Tracy Lewallen, Curtis Lewallen, Alan Newby (Susan), and Angela Jameson (Jimmy); a grand daughter, Andrea Sherman (Paul); four great grandchildren, Jodi & Cody Chuculate, and Josh & Matt Newby; and numerous nieces & nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, November 27, 2017, at Price Cemetery in London, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Rev. Rick Smith will officiate.
