Obituary

Bernice Marylan Allen, 92 of Russellville, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on June 11, 2022. She was born on March 30, 1930, in Sikeston, MO, to William Gail and Hazel Leona (Ann) Phelps King.

Bernice graduated from Puxico, Missouri High School in 1946 where she was a member of the Indians Volleyball team and was voted the prettiest girl in her sophomore class.

Bernice married the love of her life Hale Allen on September 13th, 1947, in Puxico MO. To this union were born 5 children, Marilyn Kay, Mark, Shelia, Debra, and Laurie.  She was a room-mother, Girl Scout leader, dance/cheerleader and drill team costume seamstress for her daughters. She enjoyed chaperoning various school events and she was her children’s greatest cheerleader. She taught her children patience, love, kindness, graciousness, and forgiveness.  Her love for the Lord was evident by the way she made everyone feel welcome.

Together she and Hale owned and operated The Lakewood Club in North Little Rock during the late 60's and founded Hidden Valley Country Club and Estates in Clever, Missouri in the early 70's.

She was a member of the Russellville First United Methodist Church, a member of The Gift Sunday School Class and Methodist Women's Circle One since 1999 when she relocated from Clever, Missouri.
