Boyd E. Sparks, 92, a resident of Russellville, passed into Glory Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home. The son of Samuel Harison Sparks and Mary Theresa (Belling) Sparks, he was born September 18, 1928 in Lamar. He married Virginia Lewis on March 11, 1950 in Piggott.
He attended Lamar and Morehouse, MO public schools. He founded Sparks L.P. Gas Co in the early 1950’s and was also active in general contracting for many years.
He was a faithful member of Lake Hills Pentecostal Church in Russellville.
Belonging to generations of musicians, Boyd enjoyed playing and listening to music, growing tomatoes, watching baseball, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virgina Louise Sparks; his parents; five brothers, Norvin Alton Sparks, Samuel Hoyle Sparks, George Roland Sparks, William Earl Sparks, and Thomas Leon Sparks; three sister, Agnes Sparks, Elsie Henderson-Anderson, and Francis Davis.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, William "Bill" Sparks and wife Kay of Russellville; his daughter and son-in-law, Teri Trammell and husband Michael of Arnold, MO; three grandchildren, Kristi Sparks Hunter of Russellville, Jason Trammell of Minden, LA, Mikhael "Mikelle" Trammell of Arnold, MO, four great-grandchildren, Seth Hunter and Kayla Hunter, both of Russellville, Ava Trammell and Brason Trammell, both of Minden, LA; many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, August 23, 2021 at Humphrey Chapel. Rev. Micheal Trammell will officiate. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are C. L. Davis, Seth Hunter, Jeff Sparks, Julian Hann, Sam Davis, and David Sparks. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Trammell, Tom Davis, Bill Rothert, Gisselle Holbrook, Dr. Kevin Beavers, Dr. Robert Thurlby, J.R. Davis, George Davis, and members of the McDonald’s Coffee Club.
