Wood Rustic 04

Clyde Marion Young, Jr.

September 27, 1948 ~ January 21, 2021 (age 72)

Clyde Marion Young, Jr., 72, of Dover, died Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home.  The son of Clyde, Sr. and Lula Jane (Henson) Young, he was born September 27, 1948, in Pontiac, Illinois.  He married Loretta Jane (Dorman) Young, on January 24, 1965, at Mt. Erie, Illinois.

Clyde spent his life working on the land.  In his early years, he worked in the oil & gas industry, but eventually moved into farming and logging.  He loved raising horses and other farm animals, as well as growing fruit and vegetable gardens.  He operated his own sawmill and built two houses using lumber he processed out of his mill.  One of those houses was a log cabin and he used horses to strip and haul the logs.

He and his sons owned a successful logging crew and his strong work ethic was seen in the quality of his work.  He always made sure that he taught his sons how to do the job right the first time.

Clyde loved to hunt & fish, even running his own fish market for a while and specializing in making fish nets.  He enjoyed having big fish fries for family & friends.  More than life itself, Clyde enjoyed spending time with his family.  His wife, children and grandchildren considered him the best dad and grandpa on the planet!

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Young; and a sister, Lillie Ferry.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Loretta Young; three sons: Todd Young (Linda) of Dover; Keith Young (Sheila) of Exeter, Missouri; and Shane Young of Dover; three brothers: Arnold Young, Richard Young (Kathy) and Michael Young (JoAnn); three sisters: Mary Harre, Barbara Marshel (Bret) and Debra Foster (Steve); 14 grandchilren; 23 great grandchildren; and many other nephews & nieces.
