Obituary

David Lee Vance, 74, of Russellville, died Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.  Funeral services will be Thursday, March 10, at 2:00 PM, at First United Methodist Church of Russellville with Dr. Tony Griffin officiating.  Family visitation will be at Humphrey Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 9, 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Russellville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

The son of Alfred and Martha (Brownlee) Vance, he was born November 16, 1947, in Russellville.  He married Sandra Marguerite (Turner) Vance, on November 29, 1969, in Russellville.

David was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant daughter.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra Vance; their daughter, Karen Elliott (Richard) of Russellville; their son, Michael Vance (Rachelle Morgan) of Russellville; his sister, Betty Keener (Melvin) of Ashburn, Virginia; and other relatives.

David was a noted and long-standing business owner in the Russellville community as an Abstractor with Vance Title Company.  In his professional role, he was a member of the Arkansas Land Title Association as well as the American Land Title Association.

With a deep passion for history and genealogy, David served as the Pope County Historian, President of the Pope County Historical Association, and President of the Board of Directors for Potts Inn.  He wrote & published, “History of Pope County,” which is registered with the Library of Congress.  He was said to be able to drive through the Russellville community and share the history on almost any piece of property in vivid detail.

David was a charter member of the former Evening Lyon’s Club.  He and Sandra attended First United Methodist Church of Russellville where he served as Sunday School Secretary.
