Donald E. Todd, aged 93, of Russellville, joined his Savior and the Lord of the Heavens at 7:41a.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2021. The place of his departure was Mercy Hospital in Rogers. The son of Osa and Lola Marie Longer Todd, he was born August 13, 1927 in Poplar Bluff, MO.
He attended Harding College in Searcy where he studied psychology, and then joined the United States Army, serving during the Korean War in the Army CIC, Counterintelligence Command. He and Bennie Ward were married on October 30, 1953 in North Little Rock.
Don’s career with the United States Government spanned 35 years, working as a Federal Investigator. Following President Clinton’s election in 1993, he was tasked with performing security clearances for government personnel, especially in Little Rock.
Don was a member of the Camp Caudle Board of Directors and he drove the bus for the students who attended Friendship Services, where they lovingly called him Papaw and was a long-time member of West Side Church of Christ. He enjoyed camping, traveling, reading, and model trains, but mostly, pie and coffee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Dale Todd, Stephen Todd; a granddaughter, Sarah Todd.
Don is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bennie L. Todd of Russellville; a daughter Linda (Harold) Davis of Greenwood; two sons: Alan (Michele) Todd of Bentonville, and Larry (Suzette) Todd of Ft. Smith; Seven grandchildren Mandy (Darren) Chilton, Katie Russell, Dr. Kevin (Kathryn) Davis, Kimberly (Joey) Chambers, Kelsi (Robert) Gardner, Andrew (Haley) Todd, and Dr. Allison (Carl) Neumeier; and ten great grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Marie Beauchamp.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, February 1, 2021, at the Arkansas River Valley Veterans Park on Lake Front Drive in Russellville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Tim Tripp, Jim Bob Humphrey, and Alan Todd will officiate. Full military honors will be provided by the Rogers-Rye Post #2283 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The body will lie in state at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00-4:00pm Monday. The Burial will be private at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR. Internet obituary and on-line guest book are available at www.humphreyfuneral.com.
