Harold Blalock, 90, of Danville, formerly of Plainview, died Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville. The son of William and Ida Rebecca (Davis) Blalock, he was born August 18, 1929, in Hector.
Harold earned a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Arkansas, and served our nation in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He spent his teaching career as a math teacher with the Plainview, Ola and Hector School Districts. During the summers, he worked for the Corps of Engineers. He was a member of the Plainview First Baptist Church, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and antique cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Muriel Dean Blalock; and three brothers, Frank Blalock, Freddie Blalock, and Kay Blalock. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Lea Rice of Plainview; four nieces, Ramona Oates (Thomas) of Memphis, TN; Susie Bird (Charlie) of Russellville; Kristy Konkel and Kayetlynn Kaylor both of Morrilton; and two nephews, James Oates of Memphis and Brandon Bird (Michelle) of Devalls Bluff.
Funeral services will be 1:00PM, Saturday, February 8, 2020, at First Baptist Church of Plainview, officiated by Rev. Charlie Bird. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery in Plainview, by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation Is 12:00 to 1:00 pm, on Saturday, at the church.
