Homer Junior LaRue, 77, of Mountain Pine, AR, died Saturday, August 22, 2020, at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs. The son of Homer and Sara Leonna (Stark) LaRue, he was born September 16, 1942, in Pleasant Grove, AR. He married Patricia Diane (Halstead) LaRue, on May 17, 1963 at Russellville.
Bro. Homer was a minister with the Assemblies of God for over 50 years, with his most recent pastorate at the Mountain Pine Assembly of God. Over the years of his ministry, he served 10 churches across Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana. His greatest passion in life was serving God, loving people, preaching the Gospel and winning souls to Christ. He also loved to sing and play music. When he wasn’t ministering, he enjoyed fishing and spending precious time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ed LaRue, Don LaRue and Garland LaRue; and two sisters, Izola Sain and LaEuna Cossey.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diane LaRue; their son, David LaRue (Susan) of Dover; their daughter, Pam Smith (Robby) of Vendor, AR; four grandchildren: Brittany Henderson (Chad) of Scottsville; Derek LaRue (Nikki) of Dover; Maisie Smith & Tate Smith, both of Vendor; six great grandchildren: Ruger & Piper Henderson; Connor Powell; and Colbie, Kabella & Izzy LaRue; four brothers: Jessie LaRue (Ruby), Bill LaRue (Anna Faye), Wayne LaRue (Sue), and Gaylon LaRue (Alice); and a sister, Juanita Van Ohlen (Dick), and other relatives, colleagues and friends.
A private family service will be held at Humphrey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jerry Patton and Rev. Mike Hardin officiating. Burial will be at Pollard Cemetery in Dover, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Internet obituary and on-line guest book are available at www.humphreyfuneral.com.
