Homer Eugene Wells, 96, of Plainview, died Monday, May 27, 2019, at his Home in Hollis. A son of Sam and Bertha (Jones) Wells, he was born October 22, 1922, in Hollis. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was self-employed as a cattle farmer, worked in the logging industry and operated heavy equipment. He was a member of the Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church in Hollis, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on the farm.
Homer was preceded in death by his wife, Sudie Mae (Woodward) Wells; his parents; a son, Jimmy Wells; two brothers, Henry and Billy Wells; and a sister, "Lady" Blythe.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Kathy Wells of Hollis; two grandsons, Jeremy Wells (Jamie) of Pottsville; and Shane Wells of Hollis; two grandchildren, Adrianna and Andrew Wells, both of Pottsville; two sisters-in-law, Bennie Ford of Russellville; and Betty Wells of Hollis; and other nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church, Highway 314, in Hollis. Pastor Jimmie Scott will officiate. Burial will be at Nooner Cemetery in Hollis, by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be 9:30 am to 10:00 am, prior to the service on Thursday.
