James Spencer, 80, of Atkins, died Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. The son of Eddie and Roxie (Satterfield) Spencer, he was born March 11, 1940, in Slutterville, AR. He married Carole (Grove) Parker-Spencer, on October 17, 2000, at Russellville.
James was a pipeliner with 798 Pipeline Industry, spending his career working all across the United States. During his working years and retirement years, he traveled throughout all the lower 48 states, and over much of Canada. James served our country in the United States Marine Corp from 1958 to 1963, spending most of his time in Japan between the Korean and Vietnam wars. He attended Russellville Christian Center; enjoyed travelling, dancing, woodworking, and many other outdoor activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Peggy Case and Frances Talley.
His survivors include his wife of 20 years, Carole Parker-Spencer; two sons, Eddie Spencer (Marilyn) of Russellville, and Jamie Spencer of Dardanelle; his grandchildren, Zachary Spencer, Faith Spencer, Kaylee Spencer, & Lucas Schaubroeck; two sisters, Minnie Barker (Randle) and Dorothy Leager; and his step-children, Mike Parker (Carol), Kathi Stewart (David), Jo Carter (Rodney), and many other relatives & friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. A private family-led memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
