James “Jim” Bonds, 72, a resident of Russellville, died on September 26, 2020, at Arkansas Hospice: River Valley Home, in Russellville, AR.
He was born on June 16, 1948, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Louis W. and Virginia Weir Bonds. Jim was the fourth of six children born to the Bonds. After graduation from Hughes High School in 1966, Jim attended Arkansas Tech, majoring in business administration for three years and then met and married Jacquelyn Smith in 1969. The couple has one son, Dr. J. Dustin Bonds. Jim worked in the construction sales and home improvement industry for many years. Fishing, camping, and hunting were activities he liked. Being deer camp cook was one of the roles he really enjoyed. Jim was very proud of his deer camp, but it came in second to the pride he took in his son Dusty, his daughter-in-law, Angela and his only grandson, Grayson.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Scott Bonds. Jim is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn Smith Bonds, his son, Dr. J. Dustin Bonds (Angela), and grandson, Grayson. In addition, Jim is survived by five siblings, Gina Lou Bonds Bryson, Pat (Nancy) Bonds, Sue Bonds, Joe (Barbara) Bonds and Kay Bonds. Also, Jim is survived by a
sister-in-law, Debra Smith (David) Darr, and a brother-in-law, Bob (Tanya) Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
