John "Jack" Lee

Obituary

John “Jack” Lee of Russellville, Arkansas, died on October 29, 2021.  He was born July 23, 1950, in Berwyn, Ill, to Merle John “MJ” Lee and Hazel Opper Lee.  He married Carol Amundson Lee on May 24, 1979, at Russellville.  He was a United State Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was proceeded in death by both his parents and his sister, Linda Lee Hauser (James).

Jack is survived by his wife, Carol Amundson Lee; brother, James D. Lee (Laura) of Weatherford, Texas; children, Alyson McAvoy (Lance) of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Amber Imhoff (Josh) of Coppell, Texas, Jennifer Rose (Scott) of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Melissa Slone (Travis) of Niceville, Florida, Michael Lee (Valerie) of Fayetteville, and Kyler Lee (Hannah) of Russellville; grandchildren, Ayslynn and Alexandria McAvoy, Alex, Bryce, Cole, Daniel, and Ethan Imhoff, Hattie and Millie Rose, Ryan, Audrey, and Ellie Slone, and Kathryn and Piper Lee; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The child of an Air Force officer, there were a number of moves in his life, but he lived the longest on the Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma, where he graduated from high school.

He attended Texas Tech University before entering the US Navy, where he served six years, as a machinist mate; five of which were in foreign or sea duty on the USS Abraham Lincoln. Following his Naval service he moved to Russellville, Arkansas where he followed the path of Nuclear Submariners to working at nuclear power plants. He worked for Entergy at Arkansas Nuclear One until his retirement. In his post retirement years, he worked part time for Central Presbyterian Church.  He also provided volunteer maintenance at All Saints Episcopal Church and helped for a number of years with the Neighbors Table lunch program.

In his younger years, he was an avid softball player playing on a number of adult leagues. As the years passed, he enjoyed coaching youth softball, baseball and soccer. 

Memorial service will be held at 3:00PM, Monday, November 1, 2021, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 501 S Phoenix in Russellville.  The Rev. Dr. Teri Daily will officiate.   

The family will receive friends for visitation before the service starts at All Saints Episcopal Church

Cremation committal service is under the direction of the J. Herman Humphrey Dignity Cremation Center and Humphrey Funeral Service.  Memorials may be made to the All Saints Episcopal Maintenance Fund.
