Lavenia Carroll Dean, 70, of Dover, died Saturday, June 6, 2020, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. The daughter of Arthur and Effie Mae (Pellham) Gunter, she was born October 29, 1949, in Pelsor, AR. She married Hulin Dean, on June 9, 1979 at Belleville.
Prior to retirement, Carroll worked as a Paraprofessional in the Dover School District for 17 years. One of her greatest joys was coaching athletes in the Special Olympics Program of the Dover School District. She enjoyed gardening, canning and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Beulah Gunter. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Hulin Dean; two daughters, Jackie Holt (Doug) of Delaware; and Kimberly Stanphill (Lee) of Greenville, TX; three grandchildren: Colvy Holt, Abbie Holt & Case Stanphill; a sister, Paulette Ford (Ronnie); and, a brother, Clettus Gunter (Margret).
A private graveside service will be held at Self Cemetery near Hagarville, AR, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Garland Freeman, Jr. will officiate.
