Pamelia Ann Burris, 75, of Russellville, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, after a courageous nine-year battle with cancer. A daughter of Clay and Irma Evelyn (Miller) Grizzle, she was born October 14, 1945, in Little Rock. Pamelia married her husband of almost 60 years, Carlous L. Burris, on October 30, 1963, in Benton.
Pamelia graduated from North Little High School in 1963, and went on to earn an accounting degree from Capitol City Business College. She spent most of her working career with the Tastee Bird facility (later Tyson Foods) in Dardanelle.
She was a member of the Russellville Chapter #505 Order of the Eastern Star; Extension Homemakers (EH); and she and Carl enjoyed square dancing with various clubs across central Arkansas. They were faithful members of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Russellville where Pamelia worked with children and could also be counted on for preparing potluck dishes and serving fellowship meals in the church. She enjoyed cooking and compiled an annual cookbook for Extension Homemakers. She also loved sewing and working the polls during election season.
Pamelia was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clay H. Grizzle, Jr., and a sister, Sandra Jane Dacus.
Her family remaining to cherish and honor her memory include her husband, Carl; their daughter Angelia Ann Lyons, their two sons, Carlous L. Burris, Jr. (Monique), and Frank E. Burris (Tracy) all of Russellville; a sizeable bundle of precious grandchildren all of whom affectionately called her “MeMaw;” and her sister, Carolyn Cessna of Sherwood, AR.
A family and church-led memorial service officiated by Pastor Roger Pearce will be scheduled at a later date at Grace Missionary Baptist Church. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the J. Herman Humphrey Dignity Cremation Center.
