Polly Carolyn Marpel, 77, of Lamar, died Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at her home. The daughter of Earl “Doc” and Juanita Inez (Wyndham) Hankins, she was born November 18, 1943, in Spadra, AR. She married Earnest “Clifford” Marpel, Sr., on December 27, 1964, at Poteau. OK.
Polly was a factory worker with the shoe plants at both Russellville and Clarksville for more than 20 years. She attended the Gospel Lighthouse in Bull Frog Valley. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, crochet, was an outstanding cook, especially of her famous coconut cream pies; and her grandchildren were her whole world.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents; her two sisters: Earlene Hull & Doris Dove; and one brother, Raymond Hankins.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Earnest Marpel, Sr.; their son, Earnest “Junior” Marpel (Vonna) of Dover; their daughter, Brenda Hilliard (Chip) of Mayflower; her brother, James Hankins (Carolyn) of Russellville; a sister, Linda Tanner (Jerry) of Pottsville; and six grandchildren: Drake Hilliard, Emmy Hilliard, Brittany McGurk, Hannah Marpel, Sydney Marpel & Leah Marpel; and one great grandchild on the way, Dakota Hilliard; as well as several other nephews & nieces.
A graveside & burial service will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Pollard Cemetery in Dover, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Rev. Bob Freeman will officiate.
