Rev. Beatrice Mae Chisum, 88, of Dover, passed away, Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Dardanelle Nursing Center in Dardanelle. The daughter of Auto and Ollie Lee Carpenter Ledford, she was born March 23, 1933, in Delaware, Arkansas.
At an early age, Beatrice answered the call of her Lord and her God to ministry, becoming an evangelist, she immediately began proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in Bull Frog Valley and later California, as she deepened her knowledge of the scriptures. She responded again to the Spirit’s call at the age of 16 and rode in a bus from California to Pope County to work in youth ministry. Beatrice continued to answer the Spirit’s leading throughout her 75 years of singing and preaching the gospel.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Beatrice was a member of the Falling Water Church and enjoyed working in her flower garden, taking care of the yard and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Chisum; her parents; three great grandchildren, Brooklynn Eden; Ephraim Skowron and Rochelle Dollar; a great-great granddaughter, Rilynn Reddell; four brothers, Cecil Ragsdale; Arthur Henderson; Willis Ledford; Gerald Ledford; three sisters, Lorretta Hull; Johnnie Hull and Norma Ree Yarber.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Ray Chisum (Julie) of Russellville; David Monroe Chisum (Vickey) of Hector; two daughters, Wanda Mae Dodge (Donald) of Scottsville; Paulette Reynolds (Rodney) Dardanelle; 15 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Mary Ledford of Dover
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, November 22, 2021, at Falling Water Church. Rev. Arnold Humphrey and Rev. Jon Burdine will officiate. Burial will be at Owens Cemetery in Dover, AR by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, on Sunday, at the funeral home.
