Rex Chambers

July 5, 1940 ~ September 6, 2022 (age 82)


Rex Chambers, 82, of Russellville, passed peacefully on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Russellville Nursing & Rehab in Russellville.  The son of James and Lena Ruth Pennington Chambers, he was born July 5, 1940, in Russellville, AR. He was member of the 1958 class of Sparkman High School and attended Henderson State College. He and Betty White were married on October 12, 1963, in Atkins, Arkansas.  Rex served in the Arkansas National Guard in 1963 and another 6 years in the Army Reserves.

Rex loved sports from an early age and became an avid sports fan of the Razorbacks.  As a young man he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, football.  Rex love of sports continued as he raised his girls on a baseball field, he coached and was an umpire. He was an avid reader of World War II history and the Bible.  His career with Duffield Gravel in Russellville spanned 32 years and he retired in 2010.  After attending West Side Church of Christ in Russellville, he began studying scripture and was baptized Christian in 1975 and was a member of the West Side Church of Christ where he had served as Joy Bus driver, Sunday School teacher, deacon, elder.   Rex was devoted to his wife and family and he was most proud of being a dad and a papa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Chambers; Jim Chambers; a brother-in-law, Charles Harrison.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Chambers, Russellville; 2 daughters, Rexann Pawloski (Scott) of Allen, TX,  

and Angela Asbill (Craig) of Lafayette, IN; grandchildren, Katelyn Pablo (Rex), Morgan Pawloski, Jonathan Asbill, Justin Asbill, and Tanner Asbill; a great grandson, Brock Pablo; 2 sisters, Sharon Harrison, Arkadelphia, and Ruth Kelley (Jimmy) of  Sparkman; a brother, John Chambers, Sparkman; 2 sisters-in-law, Carolyn Chambers and Judy Chambers; And numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, September 9, 2022, at West Side Church of Christ.  Dan Lightfoot and Tim Tripp will officiate. Burial will be at Center Valley Memorial Gardens in Russellville by Humphrey Funeral

Service.    The family will receive friends at Humphrey Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Thursday, September 8, 2022.  Active pallbearers are Scott Pawloski, Craig Asbill, Jonathan Asbill, Justin Asbill, Tanner Asbill, Rex Pablo. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Green, Glen Arnold, Sam Seale, Phil Stratton, Bert Page Jr., Burl McAnulty, Susan, Luke, David and Matt Duffield, and employees of Duffield Gravel Company.
