Terry Conrad Cole

August 10, 1952 ~ October 20, 2021 (age 69)

Obituary

Terry Conrad Cole, 69, of Dardanelle, passed peacefully Wednesday, October 20, 2021, after a lengthy battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).  The son of Dwight L. and Jimmie Terry Cole, he was born August 10, 1952 in Paris, Arkansas.

Growing up, he worked the family dairy farm and had a passion for breeding, raising and showing registered Holstein cattle.  He won several local and state awards for his efforts in the show ring.  As a member of 4-H and FFA he held several offices and again earned several awards including the FFA American Farmer Degree.

He attended the University of Arkansas where he obtained a Master Degree in Reproductive Physiology as well as several other awards and scholarships through his campus activities.  He was also a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity where he formed lifetime bonds and friendships.  During his high school and college days he was an avid coon hunter and loved training coon dogs and riding and training mules.

As a 5th generation dairy farmer, he built his own operation from the ground up and was named Yell County Farm Family of the Year in 1985.   After 20 years in the dairy business, the economy forced him to fall back on his Master’s Degree from the University of Arkansas and Terry became an insurance agent with Farm Bureau.  As an agent he won the Rookie of the Year award his first year and several other awards during his career.  He was an agent for the company for 14 years until his early retirement in 2014 due to his illness.

While Terry was an insurance agent, he continued his passion for farming by acquiring land and creating a large registered quarter horse and beef cattle operation.

During his life he was a member of the Holstein Association, the Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association and was a Farm Bureau Board member.  He also served on the Governor’s Dairy Board and was a founding member and President of the Arkansas River Valley Quarter and Paint Horse Association.

Terry served his country as a medic in the Arkansas Army National Guard receiving an honorary discharge after his length of service.

He was baptized and grew up in his community attending Cole’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Branch, Arkansas.  Later he regularly attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Russellville, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jodi; his son Clay Cole (Storey) of Russellville; daughters Hailey Morrow (Preston) of Dardanelle and Rachel Cole (Taylor) of Russellville; four grandsons, Conner, Carson and Colton Cole of Russellville and Cash Morrow of Dardanelle; a granddaughter, Carley Case of Dardanelle and a brother, Eddie Cole (Cindy) of Branch.
