Vana Gail Lackey (85) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus, on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
Gail was born on June 17, 1937, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the only child of LaVan and Lorraine Shoptaw.
Gail worked as an Elementary Music Teacher and private piano and voice instructor for close to 30 years, in Arkansas, Tennessee, and Indiana. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, baking, Bible study, and traveling.
Gail was the loving wife of Jimmy L. Lackey, who preceded her in death on November 30, 2009.
Gail is survived by her children: Kerry (Andy) Holder, Mark (Nettie) Carter, and son-in-law, Marvin Tapp (husband of daughter Tamara Tapp, who passed away on December 11, 2020); grandchildren: Meghan (Michael) Wallace, Nick (Elizabeth) Carter, Jonathan (Kelsy) Tapp, Mitchell (Lauren) Carter, Benji (Brittany) Holder, Micah (Zach) Goodwin, Ryan (Hanna) Tapp, and Abby Carter; and 22 great grandchildren. Gail, also, leaves behind stepchildren: Chris (Louise) Lackey, Teresa Lackey Brown, Kim Lackey, and Heather (James) McGee; step grandchildren: Cecilia Lackey, Brett (Emma) Lackey, Drew (Lacey) Lackey, Tori Vidaurri, Taylor Vidaurri, and Logan McGee; and 3 step great grandchildren.
A graveside service for family members will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville, Arkansas by Humphrey Funeral Service. Obituary and online guestbook is available at www.humphreyfuneral.com
