William Donnie Keener, 71, of Russellville, AR, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Monday, May 18, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. The son of Herman and Floy (Taylor) Keener, he was born October 11, 1948 in Russellville. He was a graduate of Pottsville High School and attended Arkansas Tech University. He married Sharon Speer of North Little Rock on October 18, 1969 at Sallisaw, OK. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard serving with the 239th Maintenance Battalion as an E-5 demolition specialist. He was the former Executive Vice President of Keener Construction. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Huntsville.
Donnie loved baseball and coached Babe Ruth and Little League. He also was a founding member of the Russellville Football Booster Club where he served for eight years. He enjoyed riding his Harley to many states and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his son, William Brent Keener; his parents; brother, David Keener; and Scooter.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Keener; daughter, Melanie Keener; sister and brother-in-law, Avona Kasselman (Monty); sister-in-law, Beverly Keener; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; special adopted grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
A private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020 at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 2405 E.
